Since September 2025, Shona Morrison from Ness in Lewis, and Thomas Fisher in Howmore in South Uist, have been job sharing the role of CLOH’s Development Manager. We have been busy, especially meeting CLOH members to see how CLOH can best contribute, and CLOH’s partners to discuss potential action on issues like climate, invasive species, housing, fuel poverty and employability. Thomas is taking a lead on fundraising for CLOH. Shona has been coordinating the programme for members to eradicate invasive gunnera, organised training like the Deer Stalking Certificate one, and is part of the Technical Advisory Group developing a strategy for eradicating invasive mink in the Outer Hebrides.
We have also coordinated policy responses by CLOH members, for example on the Scottish Government’s Draft Climate Change Plan. CLOH’s responses reflect the critical role that community landowners play in responding to the climate and biodiversity emergencies. Look out for a separate blog with more details on this. Emerging from all this work is an ambitious strategy for CLOH to support member action over the next three years, especially relating to land use and the environment.
Shona and Thomas look forward very much to working with all our members and external stakeholders in the future. Feel free to get in touch with us: shona@communitylandoh.co.uk and thomas@communitylandoh.co.uk.
